What is OMI-UK
OMI-UK is a non-profit research group of people who through investigation and research hope to learn more about all areas of the paranormal.

What experience do you have?
Besides over two years investigating locations as a group, our members all have outside experience and expertise that they all bring to the group. Obviously in an area defined by the fact that much of the phenomena it investigates is unexplainable, qualifications of any real merit are difficult to attain. That said, we are affiliated to the ASSAP, as respected paranormal research organisation, and feel that our wealth of experience and yet open mindedness to new methods makes us experienced enough to handle any case that comes our way as best we can.

Can I join?
We always welcome new members to join our team, and if you have the enthusiasm for the paranormal and dedication to help us in our fascinating investigating then we'd love to have you on board! For more details, be sure to post on the forum, or visit the membership info sections of the site.

Why is lots of the site more ghost-focused?
Mainly and simply because our expertise and past experience is in the field of ghosts, and in paranormal investigations to investigate supposedly haunted locations. That said, we're keen to learn more about other areas of the paranormal too, and this group will hopefully provide a means to do that.

What are ghosts?
That is of course the key question and if we knew for sure there'd be little room for debate in the field and the whole area of paranormal investigation and sites like this would probably be very different. To some ghosts are the spirits of the dead - an ethereal 'energy' form through which an individual lives on once their body dies. To others they are recordings of the past somehow imprinted into buildings and areas and replayed at certain times or under certain conditions, and to others they are simply the creation of a human mind ever afraid of death. It is through the gathering of data on ghosts and attempts to look at all possible explanations for them, that we hope to maybe come closer to an answer to that question.

I see you have 'investigation reference' numbers, what are they?
Basically it is a simple form of categorisation. For easy reference, each investigation we go on is given and referred to by an 'IR' number - one number followed by a slash then another number.

Essentially, the first number refers to the location being investigated (each location has its own number) and the second number (the one after the slash), refers to the number of visits there.

For example, say there was a location called 'The Haunted House,' which we categorised as location 1, our first investigation there would be referenced 1/1. If there was a second location called 'The Haunted Castle,' referenced as location 2, and it was our first investigation there, that would be 2/1 etc. If we happened to visit 'The Haunted House' (locaton 1) multiple times, then the second number would keep changing dependant on which visit we are referring to. For example, say we went to 'The Haunted House' 10 times, and wanted to look up a past occurence that happened, say on our 7th visit there, we'd look up IR 1/7.
Hopefully that makes sense!
